BADGERS SEND 20 ATHLETES TO STATE TRACK MEET

May 17, 2023

The badger track team hosted the 1A/2A last chance qualifier this past weekend and were hoping for some good qualifying marks. Mother Nature had other ideas for the competing track teams. The weather wasn’t too bad except for the wind which is a track athletes worst enemy. If the wind is more than 2.0 meters per second, the sprint races are unable to qualify. This was the case for this meet.

The badgers did not let the wind stop them from competing well and with 45 teams at the meet, the badger boys won the track meet.
The following are their marks for the day. Lohgan Bottjer won both the 100 meter dash (11.10) and the 200 meter dash (22.97). Skylur McCready also placed in both races as he finished 7th in the 100 meter dash (11.88) and 4th in the 200 meter dash (24.19). Gabe and Ahren Schubarth placed 1st (52.36) and 8th (55.45) in the 400 meter dash. Zac Carr placed 2nd in the 800 meter run (2:11.16), Jacob Jaklich placed 5th (2:16.81) and Danny Sontay placed 7th (2:18.02).
Karson Mellott placed 7th in the 300 meter hurdles (46.64). Michael Hoffman placed 5th in the high jump, (5-5) and Skylur Mccready placed 8th in the long jump (17-8.50).
Bottjer, Hoffman, Treyton Marx and G. Schubarth placed 1st in the 4x100 meter relay (45.57) and 1st in the 4x200 meter relay (1:34.23). Hoffman, Marx and the Schubarth brothers placed 1st in the 4x400 meter relay (3:39.22). The 4x800 meter relay team of Jaklich, Mellott, Sontay and Carr placed 2nd (9:19.90). The badger boys won the track meet with 97 points.

Sydney also tied for 6th place in the pole vault (7-6).
Jazzy Rosler placed 7th in the shot put (33-2) and Katelyn Tacha placed 6th in the discus (95-2).
The 4x100 meter relay team of Samara Humphrey, Gianna Humphrey, Callie Stone and Brynlyn Owens placed 1st (52.86) and the 4x200 meter relay team of Humphrey, Marx, Humphrey and Owens also placed 1st (1:52.76).
